The list below is a basic guideline for some of the more common custom options. Please keep in mind that every instrument at James Basses is custom and hand-made, so in reality, the sky is the limit (almost), and you are by no means limited to this list.

We will do our best to fulfull your needs in a special pickup / preamp setup, body shape, scale length, etc.. The main goal, however, is to provide you with an excellent sounding, excellent looking, and comfortable instrument. Usually, this can be accomplished without going too crazy. Remember, everything has an associated cost.

* Typical exotic hardwoods used include: Bubinga, Wenge, Purpleheart, Bloodwood, Zebrawood and Padauk. Many other hardwoods are available and will be considered, however some things to keep in mind when selecting woods are: weight, density, texture, etc. We will be glad to help you in your selection.

**Custom body designs are a great way to personalize your bass. We will be glad to help you in your design, or simply forward your design to James Basses for consideration (some designs may have to be adjusted slightly for proper balance and neck integration).
